The 3rd Class, located in Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, is bringing out the true growth of children through reading to cultivate talent. With 25 years of know-how and experience in education, Director Ranyoung Gu realized the importance of literacy and reading for children. Gu says “Reading gains knowledge from books and improves thinking and logical skills. So, I am researching, developing, and applying reading-centered programs and curriculum.” The 3rd Class is taught through the ‘Lead-in Reading’ and ‘Capytown English’ programs, and children are divided into basic and advanced classes through a level test. It offers one-on-one, level-appropriate tutoring in all subjects, and teaches students to develop self-directed learning habits while improving their academic performance through structured progression.

Winning 2024 Korea Value Management Awards in the ‘Education’ category
The 3rd Class was designated as a model school by the Hwasun Education Support Bureau in 2016 and won the Academy category from the KCIA in 2023 and 2024 consecutively. Gu says “Reading is a prerequisite for children to develop self-directed study habits. The 3rd Class is constantly researching and developing various programs to do just that and grow with the children.” In recognition of its excellence, The 3rd Class won the 2024 Korea Value Management Awards in the ‘Education’ category.
