Free-range black goats that grow up with specially formulated feed

According to the Korean medicine book ‘Donguibogam’, black goat raises energy, calms the mind, and warms the whole body. It is said to warm the bowels and is good for restoring the body strength after an illness. In the Chinese medicine book ‘Bonchogangmok’, it is described that black goat improves weakness and protects the stomach. Wellness Black produces a wide range of black goat essences using traditional manufacturing methods. The black goats used by the company are raised on a specially formulated diet in free-range conditions where they can roam freely and the products are made in a HACCP certified processing facility. Producing daily to maintain freshness is also a big differentiator. The staff members thoroughly inspect the sensory quality of raw materials and use a bubble washer to remove any foreign substances that may enter the product, and regularly conduct pesticide residue tests and self-quality inspections to ensure that the product is completely harmless.

35.25% black goat content in the products

The flagship product, Black Goat Essence, is made by carefully boiling black goat for 16 hours by adding Sipjeondaebotang, which is based on 12 kinds of medicinal herbs such as angelica root, cheonggung, peony, kudzu root, and dermal root. After heat processing black goat carcass for more than 14 hours, purified water is added according to the mixing ratio. After extraction with pneumatic pressure, the oil content of the extracted black goat extract is completely removed. The product is then completed by heat processing for more than an hour, completely sterilizing, and packaging. “This is a highly concentrated essence with a black goat content of 35.25%, and no concentrates or extracts are used. The rich nutritional black goat and 14 kinds of auxiliary ingredients are properly mixed, and the most important feature is that it captures the unique characteristics of black goat and is comfortable to swallow” says CEO Jinwook Jeong. Another product, ‘Thistle Black Goat Essence’, is a product for those who cannot take medicinal herbs and instead contains thistle. Thistle is a plant with cold properties and has excellent efficacy for liver disease and arthritis. In particular, thistle, which has a cold nature, and black goat, which has a hot nature, are a perfect match, making it for those who cannot eat hot food. In addition, ‘Knee Black Goat Extract’ is a product containing achyranthes, which is good for knees, and is made for those who have pain in their knee joints. Achyranthes is a perennial seaweed that is excellent for joints.

‘Maekmunbogam’ is a product made by adding the Ssanghwa recipe, which includes bellflower root, pear, and macmundong to black goat. This product was created at the request of customers to improve their health during the change of seasons due to COVID-19. The most recently developed goat milk soap, ‘Vita E+’, is made from 100% domestic organic goat raw milk. It has a high selenium content, which greatly helps prevent skin damage, and a very high water-soluble whey protein content, which provides a lot of nutrition to the skin. It’s a product. The black goat oil used in the soap is rich in vitamin E (tocopherol), an antioxidant that helps moisturize the skin and keep it smooth. Currently, customers with skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis are responding very well to the soap, and sales are increasing rapidly.

‘It’s Goat’ and ‘Soy Sauce Braised Goat’ bring a new trend to goat food market

CEO Jeong is a young farmer in his 30s who founded the company in 2016 with his wife Jeongah Lee. The company is considered to be a highly successful example of the sixth industry. After studying design and living in the city, he turned to farming and developed a variety of food products starting with 17 black goats. The couple currently raises 100 black goats themselves, but due to the surge in sales, they have to source healthy goats from members of the Black Goat Research Society in Yongin. The couple plans to increase the number of black goats they raise to 1,000. Jeong launched a brand called ‘It’s Goat’ to break the stereotypical image of black goat, and introduced its first product, Soy Source Braised Black Goat, at the ‘2024 Mega Show’ held at KINTEX. The visitors of the show said after a try that they thought it was beef as the taste and the texture were exactly the same. For this reason, it can be enjoyed by all age regardless preference as long as they like braised beef. “Unlike other livestock, black goats are small in size. For our Soy Source Braised Goat, we used only the most valuable parts of the goat, which is about 8 kilograms of ribs and lean meat.

We used a broth with eight different vegetables, and the main feature is that it is sweet without being salty. Even the process of tearing the meat is done manually, so it is a long and cumbersome process, but we produce our products with the idea of providing healthy and delicious food to our customers. It is a healthy and delicious food that everyone from children to adults can enjoy” says Jeong. Jeong plans to launch the goat soup by the end of July and is also planning to export it overseas. Also in November, he will participate in an exhibition in Vietnam to actively explore the market.
