Moon and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison had a summit talk on December 13 Canberra local time. The two leaders discussed on bilateral, regional and international cooperation and agreed to raise the current diplomatic ties between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the ties.
Moon thanked Morrison for supplying urea solution and emphasized close cooperation on core minerals and showed his gratitude on signing a MOU for the core minerals supply.
Morrison in response emphasized trust when it comes to economy and showed his will of cooperation with South Korea on supply chain, eco-friendly energy and carbon neutrality.
Moon said that the two countries are the optimum partners each other in preparing hydrogen economy and pointed out that Australia has rich solar and gas energy infrastructure while South Korea has excellent hydrogen and fuel cell mobility technologies.
Morrison said that Australia's Indo-Pacific strategy and South Korea's New Southern Policy would create a synergy in bringing forth peace and prosperity in the region, adding that, the Australia having nuclear submarine was not a development of nuclear weapons but his pledge on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons through cooperation with IAEA.
Moon said that the end-of-war declaration was not a goal but a momentum to start dialogues and Morrison showed his support for permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula and Moon's determination on denuclearization.
A number of MOUs made during the summit include areas on defense and defense industry, hydrogen economy and core mineral supply.
Moon and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a summit talk at the Blue House on December 17 Seoul local time. The two leaders exchanged opinions of cooperation in energy, resource, infrastructure, health, medicine, culture, education, environment and peace and prosperity in Central Asia.
Moon said that Mirziyoyev's new development strategy shared the same philosophy of South Korean government in terms of rule of law and protection of the weak and he hoped that the special strategic partnership formed in 2019 would move forward in friendly terms through the joint statement which would be taken today. Moon also pointed out active high level exchanges and ongoing cooperation in many fields and the FTA between the two countries would lay a springboard for more trade and investment.
Mirziyoyev in respond said that South Korea for us was an important investor and technology cooperator and the two countries shared the same value on importance of social welfare. He added that the year 2022 would mark 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties and also the Mutual Visit Year and suggested Moon to build a Korean history museum on the occasion of 85 years of Korean living in Uzbekistan on which Moon answered let us working together on that.
The two leaders also discussed on various issues including power plant remodeling, highway, chemical research center, cultural asset preservation, Korean language course, Green Climate Fund and Global Green Growth Institute.
Moon congratulated Mirziyoyev on holding UNWTO General Assembly 2023 and asked support for Sough Korea holding World Expo 2030 Busan. Mirziyoyev said he would attend the XV World Forestry Congress Korea next year and Moon welcomed him. <PowerKorea>
