(PowerKorea) Ducts are conduits or passages used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. They are important parts of a building which deliver or remove air that contains heat, moisture, gas and dusts. These substances can affect people’s health if the duct system of the building is not working properly or efficiently.

One common problem to point out is that dusts and germs stick and proliferate in the filter due to pollutants and moisture piled up over time and these dusts and germs flow into rooms and affect resident’s health badly.

It is encouraging in this regard that South Korean duct specialist NK Industry developed and commercialized an innovative ‘eco antibacterial plat duct’ that is creating a fresh ripple in the market.

Established in 2017, NK Industry has built brand recognition in the field through its capability in duct development, production and installation. The company has years of experience in designing and installing ducts in various buildings including apartments, multipurpose and schools. The eco antibacterial plat duct was released in March 2021 after securing a patent (No.10-2195394) in December 2020 for antibacterial duct technique which took years of passionate research.

A WHO report says that the air indoors is about 5 times bad than outside if the space is closed and ventilation is poor. South Korean government made ventilation in public housing mandatory in 2006. However, not changing filters on a regular basis does not make difference, experts point out. It is also a hassle to clean inside duct when it is buried within the building. In other words, it is better to install ‘eco antibacterial plat duct’ at the initial stage of installation, according to NK Industry.

An official of the company says that eco antibacterial plat duct boasts excellent antibacterial function gained by adding mineral matters to the existing PVC and it also prevents mold, removes odor and emits far-infrared radiation. These mineral matters include shell powders and tourmaline.

At a test carried out by the Korea Conformity Laboratories proved its antibacterial effect, emission of onion and far-infrared radiation. 99.9 percent reduction of coli, aeruginosa, pneumococcus and staphylococcus aureus within 24 hours from the beginning of the test were observed.

“I’m confident to say that we have matchless technique in the eco antibacterial plat duct system and we will expand its application areas to all possible fields through which we can make contributions to creating healthier buildings” says Gyutae Nam, CEO of NK Industry.

NK Industry holds ISO9001 and the first grade of the Healthy Building Material (HB).
