eWBM’s LoRa module is to be loaded in Guro District’s integrated smart city platform

 

 

 

Guro District, Seoul, completed building ‘integrated smart city platform’ last year. Experts predict that the street lamps will be the first to be benefited from this smart city platform and South Korean eWBM has signed with the district to supply 5,000 unit LoRa modules for the district’s smart street lamp project. Formerly, the company exported LoRaWan modules to Brazil in 2019. 

“Smart LED security lamps are working on/off line which makes the management and maintenance of the street lamps more convenient than ever before and eWBM will play an important role as the core part supplier” said the head of the company’s IoT division. 

 

 

 

LoRa has been recognized for its economy and universality. Loaded with various functions such as safety and environment measurement, LoRa is being expected to a key player in the smart street lamp systems in South Korea. 

“LoRa is more of internet security-focused than physical security. The local government (Guro District) choosing LoRa is meaningful as we have proved our technical ability in the field. Taking the momentum, we are expanding the scope of our technology to more smart devices including meters” said Stephen Oh, CEO of eWBM.

 

 

Having secured technologies relating to street lamp, remote control and environmental measurement, the company is now in a process of obtaining a kcmvp certificate alongside developing the modules needed for it. According to a report of Cisco visual networking index, the number of IoT devices will reach 14.6 billion by 2022 with the percentage of DDoS attack to 174%. In other words, the security systems and devices will also be in more demand, one of the reasons of eWBM introducing a TrustKey login solution. eWBM is supplying 5,000 units of TrustKey to ‘S’ company in the US through OEM.
