Energy-wise, electricity moves our daily life. Electricity is generated from fire, water and nuclear. The problem is that the generating process produces pollutants. For this reason, many countries are increasing the volume of investment in alternative energy such as solar energy. The problem again is that it has low production efficiency and the production varies depending on facilities. Tide, water and wind power seem not that much different from the problem solar energy has.

Kijang Jeong, CEO of Doowon Gongjo System, says “The year 2020 will demand more for alternative energy resources. Also, people’s interest in recycle will increase more than ever. To meet this demand, I developed an electricity generation system by using the weight of train and obtained a patent in 2016. It will be a good alternative for next generation energy resources.”

A subway train (10 compartments without passengers) weighs about 420 tons. There are 390 subway stations in the capital region and each station has more than 80 times of arrivals and departing. Calculating this into the whole weight, it will be 13,923,000 tons. Jeong points out that it will be a limitless energy resource if we can turn this into electricity.

The electricity generation system Jeong developed is attached under the rail and it saves fluid pressure as pressure energy through loading pressure devices. The pistons and hydraulic cylinders in the electricity generation system precisely realize this between under the rail and the sleepers. “If this technology is realized in full, it will create massive scale of jobs and profits. This new technology does not emit carbon dioxide and it will serve as a new eco-friendly energy resource.”
