Samsung Electronics QLED TV is backed up by Glotech’s QD Sheet
Choi Su is one of the winners of the 2nd BIZ Awards for SME Heroes held at Lotte Hotel Jeju on June 21, co-hosted by the KBIZ and the KBIZ Love Sharing Foundation. The awards go to those who have made contributions to development of Korean SMEs. Glotech has a factory in Daesowon-myeon, Chungju City, where 400 employees work together to make ultra-thin complex optic sheets for LCD TV which is a core part of TFT LCD’s BLU (TFT: Thin Film Transistor / BLU: Back Light Unit). The company reduced the thickness of the sheet by 45% by altering the 0.6mm of two sheets with 0.33mm of one sheet; it was the first case in the world made by its own technology; it was released in the market in 2011. Continuing the momentum, Glotech developed and released the world’s first three complex sheets in 2015 and joined the development of QD Sheet, a core part of Samsung Electronics QLED TV, in the same year, thus has become the main supplier of QD Sheet for QLED TV.
Going global by working together
“We were greatly supported by Samsung Electronics in securing the QD Sheet and complex sheet technologies and I think it is a model case of win-win cooperation between a large and a medium company. I’m determined to keep carrying on this excellent cooperation in a way to grow our business in the global stage” says CEO Choi. Glotech opened its door in 2010 and has grown through strict policies on customer satisfaction, human resource, reasonable profit and social contribution.
