Ministry of Strategy and Finance signs MOU on investment cooperation system with UAE

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Abu Dhabi investment company Mubadala signed an MOU on May 29 to strengthen strategic cooperation and expand investment in future-oriented sectors. The MOU provides Mubadala's investment opportunity review system for Korea's dynamic industries such as future technologies, new industries, and promising small and medium-sized businesses. This also promotes joint investments between Abu Dhabi institutions wishing to invest in Korea and Korean investment and financial institutions. In January 2023, Korea Development Bank and Mubadala signed the Korea-UAE Sovereign Investment Partnership for cross-border investment cooperation as a platform to coordinate the UAE's investment strategy in Korea, and Mubadala and other UAE institutions currently have over $6 billion worth of investments. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO of Mubadala, said he was pleased to expand his participation in the Korean market by signing an MOU with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, noting that Korea is one of the most vibrant and dynamic economies in the world, offering diverse and attractive investment opportunities. Minister Sangmok Choi emphasized that the MOU not only demonstrates the solid and successful partnership between the two countries, but also shows that Korea has the ability to attract investment from global investors.

Byeonghwan Kim, First Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, listened to the difficulties faced by young entrepreneurs at the Eumseong Youth Center on May 22 and visited Aropet, a young small but strong company. Kim said he will strengthen support for task-oriented, project-based work experience to increase the skills available in the field and help companies create more jobs. He emphasized that the government will continue to implement policies to support the employment of young people and women, such as the establishment of an all-care platform for youth employment and the expansion of spousal maternity leave, as outlined in the recently announced plan to improve social mobility.
