Saean Motors immersing with strong presence in EV market

The fierce competition between countries over electric battery technology is reminiscent of a war. Among them, electric trucks, that require high-output electric batteries, must have advanced safety device systems to prepare for possible fire hazards.

In the market largely dominated by the US and China, a South Korean EV maker is attracting attention with its innovative EV trucks.

Saean Motors CEO John Lee signed a contract with TD Lease in Japan to supply  30-ton articulated electric dump trucks on December 13, 2022 at the Saean Technology Research Center in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do. The company is jointly developing 30-ton articulated electric trucks with an investment of about 2.4 billion won from TD Lease out of a total project cost of 8 billion won. The company will deliver a mass-production model to TD Lease as early as next year.

The 30-ton articulated electric dump trucks are equipped with a 300kWh battery and a 250kW electric motor, and can travel up to 100km on a single charge. Articulated 30-ton trucks operate an average of 15 kilometers per day at the tunnel construction site. In comparison, the performance of 100 kilometers per day is sufficient overspec.

Prior to signing this contract, Saean Motors succeeded in electrifying one internal combustion engine dump truck owned by TD Lease and plans to deliver it to TD Lease after confirmation through a final test at the Gunsan test center on May 31st. 

It was the first time that a domestic EV company had signed an export contract by producing a large 30-ton electric truck. In the passenger electric vehicle market, which was almost monopolized by the United States and China, Saean Motors caused a stir by developing a 30-ton large truck as an electric vehicle, which is still an unexplored field.

Saean Motors CEO John Lee says “The 30-ton articulated electric truck developed and produced by us is to be running not only in Korea and Japan, but also in global markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and the United States in the coming years.”

Saean is leading the electric vehicle market by introducing ▲small micro electric vehicle 'WID-U' ▲electric compact SUV 'WID SUV' and ▲electric sports car 'EXOD' ▲construction machine electric forklifts.

Saean has set sail for the global EV and truck market through cooperation with Japan, and the industry officials are paying attention to how it will influence the market.
