Up until early 2000, stationery stores in South Korea played a gathering place for children swinging by to and fro schools. With advent of large shopping malls and online commercials, stationery stores seemed to disappear which was regretful. However, entrepreneurs with keen eye are rather creating a new trend and Play Moongu CEO Sungeum Hwang is a good example. Play Moongu is unique in its operation system: manless.

Opening the first store in Junggokdong Seoul last year, the number of stores jumped to 100 this year. CEO Hwang points out three things for this explosive growth of the business: 1) stationery and things that children like 2) building efficient manless operation system 3) transparent management.

"Building efficient manless operation system especially is important. As a software developer myself, I design the system that is optimized for stationery business. In other words, it is easy for children to buy and pay as well as for store managers, who work remotely, to manage without a headache. The kiosk used at all Play Moongu is built on this and it not only works buying and paying-friendly but also accumulates data needed to analyze hot selling goods and poor selling goods" says Hwang.
As the business is growing rapidly, Hwang current is running a number of teams customized for AI development, business operation, MD, distribution and 24 hour store owner respond. <PowerKorea>
