Suklim Art Center holds an exhibition Wind Towards Gangsim

(PowerKorea) Suklim Art Center hosted an exhibition Wind Towards Gangsim in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province and Yeoju City. For this, the center joined hands with the Korea Professional Artists Association for planning the exhibition running from July 7 to 27. At the opening event on July 10, Gyeonggi Sound Reservation Society Yeoju, Chani Band and Chungjeong Band gave congratulatory performances. Some of the notable participants in the exhibition are: Suklim Art Center curator Sim Sung-gyu, Korea Professional Artists Association president Gang Geum-suk and a director Kim Du-neo, a director Kim Sook-ja and a director Park In-sook.

The Korean Fine Arts Association and the Korea Professional Artists Association are art organizations for professional artists who have passion and new ideas for creativity. They promote Korean art, rights and interest of Korean artists and friendship and cooperation between the members. 

Gang Geum-suk served as the operating committee chairman of the 2011 Korea Professional Artist Mall Festival and of the 2015 KPAA Golden Artist Award, head judge of the 26th Korea Christian Grand Art Exhibition, 23rd vice director of the Korean Fine Arts Association and head judge of the Chungnam Grand Art Exhibition. He has held 11 solo exhibitions and is serving as the president of the Korea Professional Artists Association, an advisor of the Korean Fine Arts Association and an invitational artist to the Grand Art Exhibition of Korea.

Kim Du-neo majored in fine art at Jeonju National University of Education. Kim worked as a fine art teacher, held 7 solo and invitational exhibitions and 98 group exhibitions, and received special prize at Jeollabukdo Art Exhibition, at Grand Art Exhibition of Korea and at Korea Women Art Exhibition. Kim is serving as a director of the Korea Professional Artists Association, a member of the Korean Fine Arts Association, a director of the Goyang Art Association, a member of Goyang Senior Artists Society and the curator of the All Gallery. 

Kim Sook-ja has held numerous exhibitions and is serving as a director of the Korea Professional Artists Association, a member of the Korean Fine Arts Association and of the Gyeonggi Women Artists Society. 

Park In-sook majored in fine arts at Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Art and in ceramics at Sookmyung Women’s University Graduate School of Art and at Dankook University Graduate School of Art. Park has held 9 solo exhibitions and 130 group and invitational exhibitions and is a director of the Korea Professional Artists Association, assistant curator of All Gallery, a member of the Korean Fine Arts Association Seocho, a member of the Seoul Fine Arts Association and of the Korea International Formative Arts Association. 

Sim Sung-gyu indulged in calligraphy in elementary school and in sculpture in middle school and majored in environmental sculpture at University of Seoul and majored in art plastic at Hannam University Graduate School. Sim created a conception of color sculpture with painting and sculpture and initiated art bank system. Sim opened Suklim Art Center in 2008 as a sculpture gallery and a children’s art activity space. The largest numbers of art works in Yeonju are reserved in the center. Sim held 8 solo exhibitions and participated in 80 group exhibitions and 3 art fairs. He is active at a municipal sculpture association, Korean Fine Arts Association and Korea Sculptors Association. 

Sim organized the 1st Youth Open Concert at the Suklim Art Center last May in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province and Yeoju City. He published Romantic Cat and Squirrel for his 11 year old daughter and held a solo exhibition Cheer Up Father in Insandong Seoul last February followed by another solo exhibition Spring Is Coming from April 7 to July 6 at the Suklim Art Center. 

“I hope the center will be used as a cultural space where exhibitions and events take place for artists and make contribution to boosting local economy” says Sim.
