The term ‘ending coordinator’ in South Korea is a funeral administrator who takes care of the necessary process of the funeral on behalf of the client. The industry officials predict that the number of ending coordinators will likely increase as the number of the aged population has also increased. From consulting to finish, an ending coordinator prepares for the client to have dying well through customized programs.

On 25 last month, the Korea Ending Life Support Association signed a MOU with Preedlife Southern Seoul. The association president Kim Kwon-ki said that he had observed for a long time that the demand for ending life support had been increasing steadily and the funeral service industry also was making a change as the door-to-door salesmen had been included in the category of ending coordinating services with employment insurance. He added that the services would keep the pace and it was the job of the association to foster manpower and to provide professional services.

Merging Jounlife, Preedlife is now received as the leading funeral service provider in the nation with advances from customers surpassing 1.2 trillion won ($1 billion). Its business now covers from funeral services to wedding and travel. In other words, the cooperation between the two parties is expected to create a synergy.
The association runs private certificate course for ending coordinator which is registered to the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. Preedlife Southern Seoul office manager Kang Ji-ho said that the funeral services now included wedding and travel and it would keep expanding its areas as the trained professionals in the field were growing the key players of the business. He added that the job of ending coordinator would be a good business partner and it would bring upgraded services to the industry as a whole.

In his lecture titled ‘opportunity of ending industry in the aging society’ at Hanyang Cyber University, Kim unfolded his knowledge and knowhow accumulated through his years of experience and devotion. Hanyang Cyber University sliver industry professor Kim Shin-young said that it was time for us to think and talk about the way we end our life as much as the way we live and preparing the coming time in advance could benefit oneself and its family, friends and acquaintances. Kim added that the job of ending coordination would play a key role in this and linking the certificate course to a major course of the university could create a synergy.
The association president Kim said the association would keep introducing more advanced services that could make lives of the people better and more graceful through down-to-earth training programs, adding that, the association would also contribute to creating new jobs to boost economy.
