South Korean network marketing guru Atomy is donating 2 mobile health buses and one van with 5 billion won (4.4 million USD) operation fee to a Korean medical team in Cambodia, announced March 24. For this, Atomy joined hands with Presbyterian Medical Center, and People for Medical Cooperation International. The agreement includes Atomy and Presbyterian Medical Center to build a general hospital, a medical college and a university in the local.
The team of 26 on the mobile health buses and van will drive around from region to region to build data base on local diseases and to provide medical services including cervical cancer and cataract. The buses and van are equipped with mobile X-ray, sonogram, centrifuge and automatic lens edger.
“I stayed at a hotel in Cambodia and behind was a free children’s hospital. I saw hundreds of parents with their children lining up in front of the hospital every day. So, I decided to do something and I’m happy to fulfil that something today” says Atomy chairman Park Han-gil.
“The buses and the van will help people in medical need in Cambodia. The seeds scattered 123 years ago on the site where Presbyterian Medical Center stands today and that seeds will grow in Cambodia as well now” says the center’s director Kim Chul-seung.
Atomy’s steam humidifier and air purifier won the Product Design at the Red Dot Design Award 2021.
