Stretching is an exercise of stretching our body parts such as muscles and tendons. People do stretching as a preparation before doing tough exercises such as running and swimming. Though it sounds and looks easy, bad stretch can often result in damaging the body.

Suseong Kids Stretching is located in Suseong District, Daegu. It runs customized stretching and rhythmic gymnastics programs according to different age groups from kids to adults. It is unique as it is one of the few stretching specialized training centers in South Korea.

"Stretching is an exercise that easies muscles so keeping it to the limited boundary and balance is very important" says director Ko Eun-jeong.

Ko majored in physical education and obtained a stretching and rhythm gymnastics instructor's certificate. She had worked in the field for 7 years before opening her own business with her own programs in June last year. The programs cover all age groups as well as individual and group lessons.

"I noticed that many children have sleek arms and legs but the bellies. I ascribed it to unbalanced movement of the body. So I launched a research and brought up customized stretching programs. Alongside, I introduced right sportsmanship and manners as exercises are often valued for these virtues."

Despite only three weeks of preparation period, four students under her attention to detail instruction won prizes at a national dance competition held October last year. Words spread far and wide and number of students has now reached around 100. Her capability and experience aside, the tuition fee is relatively cheaper than other sports clubs at around 1/5.

"I recently have seen an increased number of professional athletes from speed skating to golf. This is because they know that right stretching minimizes possible injuries that can occur during exercises or games."

Ko currently is working on introducing programs better customized for elderly and expanding the business from next year.
