The Walk In The Light Movement is an organization established under the motto ‘truth, order and harmony’ in order to promote people to live in the light. Truth means as it is, and order means a respect for ideology and value of liberalism but disrespect for corruption, and harmony means open mindedness, love, kindness, devotion and service. Taking the steering wheel of the Walk In The Light Movement Gyeonggi Association in the year 2018, Eun Jung emphasized on communication, harmony and activation of women members and has pushed forward her plans and leadership in passion for 3 years. <PowerKorea> met her and heard from her.

Q. What have you achieved for the last 3 years?

A. It’s been 17 years since I joined the movement. The Gyeonggi Association was launched in 1989 and has grown to boast 70,000 members today through a variety of activities such as volunteering, visiting companies, music concerts, donations, planting rose of Sharon (national flower), reducing food waste, making kimchi and side dish for the needy, taking care of elderly living alone, scholarship and many more.

Q. I heard you are also a singer with 10 albums?

A. I am. I actually started volunteering by a chance of taking a stage to sing. I cannot think of my life without music. I sing when I’m happy and I sing when I’m sad and in despair. Sometime in the past when my husband’s business went bankrupt, I thought I was the most unlucky one in the world. Then when I started singing for people in sanatoriums, I realized how lucky I was with my life. So it has lasted until today.

Q. What do you think it is to help people in need?

A. It must come from one’s heart but not from gaining something by a show. In this respect, it doesn’t need to be something big but every single small act will be of great help to those in need as long as the intension is good.

Q. You are also busy spreading value of rose of Sharon?

A. Rose of Sharon is the national flower of South Korea. Although there are around 200 kinds of the flower in South Korea many of them bloom during July and August and then go away. In other words, two months are not good enough for the people to keep reminding themselves of the national flower. So I’m playing a role as an honorary rose of Sharon ambassador.

Q. What is your message to people?

A. My message is walk in the light and be generous and understanding to others. I believe sharing a bowl of rice can create a great virtuous ripple in our society especially such as time like COVID-19 sweeping the world. My name Eun means kindness and surname Jung means affection. Let us share what we have each other for a better world. And this is my message to people.
