Taichi goes back to the late Ming dynasty around 1600. It is known to originate from Jinga Taichi as a physical and metal training. Today, around 2 to 3 billion people in the world are practicing this martial art and it is received as the largest scale as a single form of physical exercise.

Bright Light Taichi Academy CEO Kiyoung Um explains that taichi is a mental and physical training to understand the essence of one’s mind and body and to keep them in balance. Taichi helps trainers adjust flow of energy in the body and enriches humanity; for many city dwellers Taichi can be a good method to change bad dietary and habit; for certain patients, it can also be a support to improve symptoms.

Answering the need of modern people, Bright Light Taichi Academy runs a number of designed programs. The effectiveness of Taichi for arthritis patients have already been proved globally and Bright Light Taichi Academy has spread this method in South Korea since 2005. The Korean Dementia Association also published an article in April 2017 that taichi can help to prevent Alzheimer’s.

It is notable that Harvard Medical School and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center encourages patients to do taichi to help them recover from illness.
