EXHIBITION BIJOUX EN JEU/ JEWELS IN PLAY

Venue: Gallery MUN, DDP, Jung-gu, Seoul
Curated by the mudac, Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts in Lausanne, the exhibition showcases amazing 220 contemporary jewels from two Swiss public collections: the Swiss Confederation's and the mudac's own collection. 37 artists present their pieces realized between 1970 and 2013. The thematic presentation illustrated by chapters: telling, adorning, using, shaping, making, offers a reading of the functions, uses, shapes materials and techniques of contemporary jewelry. This unique exhibition, which comes for the first time to Korea, is presented by the Embassy of Switzerland and the Seoul Design Foundation in partnership with the Swiss Fund Korea, and Laurence Geoffrey's,Ltd. Swiss curator Carole Guinard will offer guided tours on 1 November at 5:30pm & 6:30pm and Jeweler artist Esther Brinkmann on 21 November at 5:30 pm. A lecture <Author’s jewelry, a luxury in a contemporary world> by Esther Brinkmann will take place on 21 November at 7:00pm.
2. CONCERT <CHAMBER SERIES V: FROM PARIS TO IOWA> FLUTIST EMMANUEL PAHUD & MUSICIANS OF SEOUL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

Venue: Chamber Hall, Sejong Center for Performing Arts
Internationally renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud will perform with musicians of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, conducted by Swiss Maestro Thierry Fischer. Born in Geneva, he was appointed as Principal Flute Soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at only 22 years of age. At the same time, he pursued a solo career throughout the world and his varied repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music in the most diverse formations. In Seoul, he will perform musical works by Mozart, Ravel and Debussy with musicians of the SPO.
3. CONCERT <SONIC FIREWORKS> - SEOUL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA CONDUCTED BY SWISS MAESTRO THIERRY FISCHER
Date: 5 Dec, 8pm & 6 Dec 5pm
Venue: Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center
Under the artistic leadership of Swiss conductor Thierry Fischer, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra will present concert <Sonic Fireworks> on 5 and 6 December at Seoul Arts Center. The Swiss Maestro was appointed as principal guest conductor and artistic director of the orchestra in 2017 and travels to Seoul four times a season. The two concerts will feature musical works by Tchaikovsky, Mozart and R. Strauss.
4. GRAND PARTY

In order to close the new embassy inauguration year and to celebrate the end of the “Pushing the Limits – Celebrating Swiss Excellence & Innovation in Korea” program, the Swiss Embassy in Seoul will organize the GRAND PARTY, again in the mythical underground parking of its new premises. Dancers, disco to techno fans, lovers of Swiss wines and all friends of Switzerland in Seoul are invited. Free admission but registrations (swiss.embassy.seoul@gmail.com) required. Live music, Swiss wines, fantastic ambiance are guaranteed!
5. STUDY IN EUROPE FAIR (SIEF) 2019
Date: 2-3 Nov
Venue: Hall A, COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
Organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, STUDY IN EUROPE FAIR (SIEF) aims at raising awareness of the quality of European higher education institutions to South Korean audiences, inspiring Korean students to study abroad and giving them personal advice to plan their studies in Europe. SIEF hosts more than 70 institutions including embassies, universities, and education institutions. The Science and Technology Office of the Swiss Embassy in Seoul will participate in SIEF and to assist Korean students on how to find the right university in Switzerland and how to get funding and scholarships as well as information on admission procedures.
6. Special CONNECTION: Science Club and Swiss Alumni Gathering

The Science and Technology Office of the Swiss Embassy in Seoul will host <Special CONNECTION: Science Club and Swiss Alumni Gathering> on Wednesday 6 November. The event will be addressed to alumni of Swiss universities, participants to Science Club and other activities organized by the Science and Technology Office. Join us! Participation is free but registration compulsory by 30 October.
