One art work per house

As an ardent art lover, Baeksu Kim aka Baekam, initiated the Korea Public Art Association, the Korea Artists Exchange Association, and the Korea Mugoonghwa Art Association. He is running Pyeongni Gallery in Hwapyeong-ri, Ganam-eup, Yeonju City. The gallery looks like a small farmhouse outsidebut has years of his valuable collections inside.

“There are many artists, potters and engravers in Yeoju City and Pyeongni Gallery is connecting them to the Seoul Museum to promote their works. In fact, Pyeongni Gallery is just beginning of my ambition to open numerous galleries for both artists and residents in as many regions as possible” says Kim.

Kim has carried on his ‘one art work per house’ campaign for many years. Artists famous and less famous alike are supporting the campaign with good will to spread art to everyone and it is drawing positive response and substantial results. As part of this effort, Pyeongni Gallery displays various genres of art works from western and oriental paintings to calligraphy and ceramics. Also as part of this effort, Pyeongni Gallery is run 365 days a year.

“The ‘one art work per house’campaign offers an art work at an absolutely affordable price as low as 100,000 won to as high as 500,000 won (USD 424 as of June 6, 2019).” Kim has held more than 30 exhibitions and donated a number of famous art works to military camps and police stations.
