The tougher real estate regulations and the minimum wage rise have resulted in a decline of people buying houses. It is ok for potential house buyers to hold their decision for a while to see how things go but it is creating a great impact on brokers. It is natural therefore that an organization like the Korea Association of Realtors rolls up its sleeve to take measures to activate the market in this time of hardship.

Set sail in 1986
The Korea Association of Realtors was established in 1986 to protect and promote the rights and interests of real estate agents. It has carried out and provided its members mutual-aid projects, training, information networks, policy researches and PR. Celebrating its 33rd birthday this year, Park Yong-hyun has been elected as the 12th president of the association by gaining 57.8% votes, the record high approval rate within its history.

The inauguration ceremony at its building in Gwanak District, Seoul on 24th April invited around 700 people eminent and normal alike including Joo Seung-yong the vice chairman of the National Assembly and lawmakers Youn Kwan-suk and Kim Kyung-hyup; congratulatory messages were also sent by Kim Hyon-mi the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Chung Dong-young the Democracy and Peace Party leader and Lee Jeong-mi the Justice Party leader.

Nothing but devotion
Park boasts 20 years of expertise in the field and has served a number of key roles in various related organizations; the Korea Real Estate Management Academy and the Korea Legal Aid Corporation Suwon.

“No matter how good the intention of the government, the tougher regulations on real estate market seems to be driving brokers out of their jobs. So I feel a sense of enormous responsibility to find ways to get through this tough time. I’m determined to devote myself to the next three years of my term promoting the rights and interests of our members and of the real estate market in Korea as a whole. I sincerely ask your support and cooperation” said Park.
