The 6th industry is a term introduced by Lee Dong-pil, the former Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It is the industry that embraces the 1st, 2nd and 3rd industries to function as one organic body to make the process from production and selling easier and more effective. Realistically, however, it is not easy for farmers to take care of finance and marketing alongside production. The establishment of the Farm Village Convergence Industry Certification Association started at this awareness.
Farmers are good at what they produce. The problem is that they do not know whether it sells. Marketing at this point plays an important role and the Farm Village Convergence Industry Certification Association has rolled up its sleeve to take the initiative. The association has opened 10 branches within 2 years of establishment and 1,580 businesses of production, processing and sales have been approved by the association as 6th industry businesses. The association also finds selling channels on/off line and signs contracts with various companies and organizations to promote the Korean 6th industry.
