Located on 75 Goun-ro, Hamyang-eup, Hamyang County, Gadasu Milk Mom is famous for fresh yoghurt and cheese. "There is no such thing as secret in making yoghurt or cheese but simply using fresh milk from healthy milk cows reared on a clean aired ranch" says Lee Hyun-jung, CEO of Gadasu Milk Mom.
She moved to Hamyang in 2012 with her husband on hearing the news of her father in law's deteriorating health and of her husband's taking over the family business. The father in law recovered, however, and is taking care of 120 beef cattle while her husband is of 80 milk cows at the moment.
As for her job, she took up the role of making yoghurt and cheese from the milk produced there. It was not an easy process at first as she endured 5 years of trials and errors before fully confident with it. Now her uniquely made yoghurt and cheese being ready, she opened a small cafe in Hamyang-eup June this year.
"I named my business Gadasu Milk Mom. Ga-da-su comes from the first names of my two daughters and a son. It means that I put up my children's name on my business for truthfulness and for excellence."
Like she said, Gadasu Milk Mom never uses imported fodder but cultivates corns and ryes on its own to maximize its healthiness. Also, the milk used for yoghurt and cheese is grade one made through one month to six month maturing period which takes a considerable amount of time and effort.
Lee learned milk products processing technique at Sunchon National University and Gyeongsang National University and obtained a third grade milk products processor certificate in 2015 followed by a barista certificate in 2012.
When asked about future plan, Lee said "I'm ambitious to grow the business nationwide through franchise since I have secured a fantastic foundation to supply the freshest ingredients and materials possible."
