Finding a promising future career on sports

If you are a school parent, you might have at least once thought over about the future career of your children. Many people say it is important to find your children what he/she likes and talented at instead of just pushing him/her into the hell of competition for top universities.

"Many parents and students in fact regret after choosing their major or graduation because it was chosen what they seemed as an 'ok' alternative. The problem is the students neither study hard nor have a good career but just wasted their time and money" says Oh Jung-hoon, the president of the Korea Physical Education Career.

This was the reason that the Korea Physical Education Career set sail to provide helpful and effective career consulting. Though its name 'physical' suggests something related to sports but it also offers consulting to non-sports majored students.

"Of course we are much focused on finding a right path and career in relation to sports. But finding a right career is about a matter of finding happiness after all. As a sportsman myself, I found greater opportunities for young students to build and lead a healthier life. Sports in fact cover vast areas of career from professional players and amateurs to leisure activities and Sport for All. So, there are far more opportunities to work and grow than other areas."

If we raise Oh's view point on sports a little more, Oh regards 'physical activities' as 'actions to know more about the principles of our lives'. Currently, the Korea Physical Education Career is running Ministry of Education approved first, second and third grade sports career instructors courses and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approved first, second and third grade sports creative instructors courses. They also hold seminars, training courses and festivals on a regular basis to increase public awareness and participation.

"Sports in a way are great tools to educate young people since they involve rules and the winners and the losers. But I often call myself the latter as 'beautiful losers' since most of us are in that category. In fact, the winners also must havegone through hell lot of the latter. So the young ones grow stronger and more generous and more open to themselves, to others and to society."
