국내 최대 봄 꽃 축제 진해 ‘군항제’ 손님맞이 준비 착착!!  
국내 최대의 봄 꽃 축제인 진해군항제가 드디어 손님맞이에 박차를 가한다. 4월 1일부터 10일까지 경남 창원시 진해구 전역에서 봄을 기다려온 시민들을 반기려 한다. 올해로 56회째를 맞는 진해군항제에서는 중원로터리에 마련되는 특설무대에서의 개막행사를 비롯해 1일 북원로터리 제단에서의 추모대제, 해군사관학교 부대 개방 행사 등 다양한 행사가 펼쳐진다. 또 이충무공 호국정신 계승 행사, 여좌천 별빛축제, 문화공연, 속천항 멀티미디어 해상 불꽃쇼 등 다양한 행사들이 준비돼 있다. 창원시는 제56회 진해군항제와 2018진해군악의장페스티벌을 찾는 관광객들의 편의를 위해 관광안내소를 증설해 주요 행사장 10곳에 설치하고, 임시주차장 17곳에 1만6800면을 확보했다. 특별 교통소통 대책으로 31일과 4월 1일, 7일 등 3일간은 외부 셔틀 및 내부 셔틀버스 4개 노선을 운영하고 외곽 주차장과 버스전용 차로를 운영할 계획이다. 그 일환으로 군항제 방문 차량의 편의를 위해 여명로 및 여좌철길~중앙삼거리, 여좌동주민센터 진입 도로변을 전면 포장하였으며, 보행객이 많은 여좌동 106-2번지 등 2개소의 골목길도 포장공사를 실시했다. 이와 병행하여 여좌동은 여좌천의 위험요소 사전예방을 위하여 수시로 점검을 추진하여 방문 관광객이 안전하고 편안한 여행이 되도록 최선을 다할 방침이다. 창원시 축제담당은 "지난 2월 진해군항제 준비 상황을 점검했으며, 각 분야별 검토 사항을 빠짐없이 챙겨 군항제를 찾은 관광객들이 보다 편안하고 안전하게 관람할 수 있도록 만전을 기하고 있다"고 말했다. 

충무공의 숭고한 구국의 얼을 추모하고 향토문화예술을 이어가다 
진해 군항제는 초창기 이충무공 동상이 있는 북원로터리에서 제를 지내는 것이 전부였으나, 1953년부터 진해군항제로 축제를 개최하기 시작하여 충무공의 숭고한 구국의 얼을 추모하고 향토문화예술을 진흥하는 본래의 취지를 살린 행사와 더불어 문화예술행사, 세계군악의장페스티벌, 팔도풍물시장 등을 아름다운 벚꽃과 함께 즐길 수 있는 봄 축제로 해마다 알찬 발전을 거듭하여 이제는 군항제 기간 동안 200만 명 이상의 국내외 관광객이 찾는 오랜 역사와 전통을 자랑하는 전국 규모의 축제로서 자리를 확고히 하고 있다. 36만 그루 왕벚나무의 새하얀 꽃송이들이 일제히 꽃망울을 터뜨리면 세계최대 벚꽃도시에서 봄날의 추억을 남기려 포토홀릭에 빠지는 사람들과 꽃비가 흩날리는 봄의 향연에 취한 사람들이 한데 어우러져 출렁이는 모습이 축제의 장관을 이룬다. 진해군항제 행사는 이충무공의 얼을 추모하는 행사와 벚꽃명소 테마행사로 중원로터리에서 전야제, 팔도풍물시장, 예술문화공연 등 주요 행사가 열리고 북원로터리에서는 이충무공 동상에 헌다헌화, 추모대제, 승전행차 퍼레이드가 열린다. 또한, 군항도시의 특성을 살린 군악의장페스티벌은 축제기간 동안 개최되는데 군악ㆍ의장이 융합된 군대예술 공연으로 군악대의 힘찬 마칭공연과 의장대의 멋있는 제복에 절도 있는 공연은 진해군항제 벚꽃축제에서만 볼 수 있는 공연이다.  평소 출입이 자유롭지 않은 해군사관학교, 해군진해기지사령부는 군항제 기간에 꼭 들러야 할 곳으로 해군사관학교 박물관 및 거북선 관람, 함정 공개, 사진전, 해군복 입기, 요트크루즈 승선 등 다양한 체험을 할 수 있으며, 우리나라 해군기지의 면모와 함께 100년이 넘는 왕벚나무의 화려한 벚꽃을 만끽할 수 있다.

Jinhae ready to welcome visitors 
2018 Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is held from April 1-10. The festival marks 56th this year and the opening ceremony is taken place at Jungwon Rotary (roundabout) and Bukwon Rotary with a variety of events including a memorial ceremony and opening the Korea Naval Academy to the public as well as the famous the Yeojwacheon Starlight Festival. Jinhae District has set up 10 information centers and secured 17 parking lots that can accommodate 16,800 cars. The 4 shuttle buses are run on March 31 and April 1 and 7 on the bus-only lanes. The district also has paved a number of roads and allies for easy and convenient flow of the traffic. An official of Changwon City said “We already checked up on the preparation February this year and we will do our best for the safety of the visitors.” It is reported that around 2 million people visit Jinhae during the festival every year. 

Jinhae reveres Yi Sun-sin
Like always, 2018 Jinhae Gunhangje Festival pays a respect to Yi Sun-sin. At Bukwon Rotary, the laying flowers to the statue of Yi Sun-sin alongside a ritual and a victory parade are held. Yi Sun-sin was a Korean naval commander famed for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Imjin war in the Joseon Dynasty. For almost all Koreans, he is the true hero and one of his statues also stands on Gwanghwamun Plaza, Seoul. It is fun to watch the Jinhae International Military Band & Honor Guard Festival if you are in the place and also to get into the Korea Naval Academy only open to the public during the festival period of the year; you can see Turtle Ship, warships and battle photos or you can try on the uniforms and the yacht cruise. However, what excites you the most will no doubt be the 100 year old cherry blossom trees that cover the whole district from the entrance to every nook and corner and far ends.
