“지역사회·기업과 함께 성장하는 산학협력 생태계를 만들어가겠습니다”

NEO 산학융합 생태계 조성
산학협력의 주된 가치는 지역 기업과 대학이 상호 협력적인 관계를 구축함으로써 강소기업을 육성하고, 지역경제를 활성화시키며, 미래를 이끌어 갈 창의적인 인재를 길러내는 것이다. 이에 ‘대구대학교 LINC+사업단’에서는 인적·공간적 융합을 통하여 창의 인재양성, 기술혁신, 지역사회 발전에 기여하고자 「NEO 산학융합 생태계 조성」의 비전을 제시하고 나섰다.
대구대 LINC+사업단이 주창한 ‘NEO 산학융합 생태계’란 ‘New Ecosystem for the Other 90%’의 구축과 활성화를 말한다. 사업단을 이끌고 있는 장중혁 단장은 “그간 시행되어 온 LINC사업을 통해 각 대학과 기업 간의 ‘산학협력 생태계’ 구축은 이뤄졌으나, 주로 기술협력 부분에만 치우쳐 있고, 이러한 혜택을 지역사회의 다양한 구성원들이 골고루 나눠받지 못하고 있다는 한계가 있었습니다”라며, “저희는 기업뿐만 아니라 지역사회로까지 산학협력의 영역을 확장하고, 기술협력과 지식협력이 함께 이뤄지는 새로운 산학융합 생태계 모델을 제시하고자 합니다”라고 설명했다. 특히, 대기업 중심에서 중소기업과 사회적기업, 여성기업, 1인창업기업 등으로 대상을 확대하고, 이공계 뿐 아니라 인문·사회·예체능계에 걸친 전반적인 분야를 포괄하겠다는 것이 이들의 목표다.

인적·공간적 융합을 통한 인문사회분야 산학협력 선도
LINC+사업단의 이러한 비전 수립은 이공계보다 비이공계 학과가 많은 대구대학교의 특성에 기인한다. 대구대는 94개 학과 중 비이공계가 53개로서, 일반적으로 이공계 중심으로 이뤄지게 되는 산학협력 사업에 있어 타 대학과는 다른 접근방식을 사용해 왔다. 대구대는 5년 전 LINC사업을 시작하면서 ‘인문사회분야 산학협력을 선도하는 대학’을 표방해왔으며, 이에 기반한 다양한 활동을 통해 인문사회분야가 산학협력에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 제시하는 데에 의미있는 이정표를 세워왔다.
이처럼 지역 사회 및 기업과 함께하는 산학협력을 추구하는 LINC+사업단의 활동은 이미 주목할 만한 성과를 창출해내고 있다. 파트너가 원하는 협력 및 지원 사항을 발굴하여 산업체와 공공분야의 어려움을 해결하는 ‘Local-Allset 사업’에서는 5군수지원사령부와 함께 ‘군 물류체계 성과지표’를 개발해 국방 군수 예산의 합리화 및 기존 군 물류시스템의 개선과 업무효율성 제고에 도움을 줬으며, 경산시청과 ‘대구지하철 순환선 추진’을 지원했고, 한국정보화진흥원과 ‘ICT 융합기반 지능형 사회 구현을 위한 연구 네트워크 방안 수립’, 대구창조경제혁신센터와는 ‘C-Fab 운영 활성화 방안 수립’ 등을 지원해왔다. 또한, 사회적경제 기업의 디자인 지원 및 지속가능 경영분석을 통해 새로운 부가가치를 창출하기 위한 ‘가치창출형 지원사업’에서는 9건의 디자인 부가가치창출과 1건의 공유가치 창출을 지원했으며, ‘CSR 상용화 지원사업’에서는 ‘뇌졸중 환자의 보행 훈련을 위한 장착형 FES 시스템 개발’ 등 환경분야와 사회적 약자 분야에서 3건의 사업을 수행했다. 

“지역사회 발전에 기여하는 창의 인재양성에 힘쓸 터”
대구대 LINC+사업단의 사업 활동이 시간이 갈수록 점차 강한 추진력을 얻고 있는 원동력은 대학 전체가 산학협력에 대한 중요성을 인식하고, 13개 단과대학과 94개 학과, 총 1만 7천여 명의 학생과 586명의 전임교원이 산학협력 사업에 참여하고 있다는 점이다. 장중혁 단장은 “저희 사업단에서는 학생들이 직접 참여하여 지역사회의 문제점을 분석하고, 해결방안을 모색하는 ‘DU-SP동아리’를 운영하고 있습니다. 지난해 21개 팀, 159명이 참여했으며, ‘대학가 원룸촌 생활쓰레기 무단 배출 해결방안’을 제시한 팀이 최고상을 수상하는 등 다양한 아이디어가 도출되고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다. 이러한 활동이 더 큰 의미를 갖는 부분은 학생 스스로가 지역사회 문제 해결에 대한 관심을 가짐으로써, 지역공동체 구성원임을 자각하고, 보다 능동적인 참여를 통한 지역사회 공헌을 이끌어내는 데에 기여할 수 있다는 점이다. 
장중혁 단장은 “‘사회적경제’가 추구하는 가치는 저희 대구대학교의 산학협력 활동과도 직결되어 있습니다. 지난 1월 개최한 ‘제3회 인문사회 산학협력포럼’도 사회적경제가 주제였습니다. 사회적경제와 관련된 학생들의 창업 아이디어와 대학과 연계한 사회적경제 우수사례를 발굴·확산하기 위한 ‘창업아이디어 및 우수사례 공모전’에 전국 12개 대학, 33개 사례가 접수됐으며, ‘학교 밖 청소년과 함께하는 제과제빵 기업’인 앨리롤하우스와 ‘시각장애인을 위한 점자지갑’으로 경일대 학생이 최우수상을 수상한 바 있습니다. 올 5월에도 전국 대학이 참여하는 협동조합 포럼과 경진대회를 추진할 예정입니다”라고 밝혔다. 지역·기업과 함께 성장하는 산학협력 생태계를 만들어가려는 이들의 노력은 앞으로도 계속될 전망이다. 대구대 LINC+사업단이 제시하는 ‘NEOwithDU’의 비전이 어떤 결실을 맺게 될지 귀추가 주목된다.

LINC stands for INdustry-university Cooperation. It was introduced by the government with the goal to promote regional economy and industry. LINC+ is the upgraded version of the LINC with improved policies and programs. Suggesting ambitiously the future manpower, technology innovation and regional development vision, under the title ‘NEO Industry-University Converged Ecology’, the Daegu University LINC+ director Jang Joong-hyuk said “Many of the LINC projects have been weighted on the technology part but the benefit generated were not equally distributed to the society. So, the difference Daegu University LINC+ is making now is to make the fruits reach to every corner of our society. This way, we will create a new knowledge-technology driven cooperation platform.” It is Jang’s goal to include the SME, social enterprises, women enterprise and one-man businesses as well as the large companies for the cooperation, implemented in almost all academic departments. Daegu University runs 94 departments of which 53 are non-science or engineering. The university started the LINC 5 years ago with its strength in humanities and society. The Daegu University LINC introduced ‘military logistics performance indicator’ in cooperation with the 5th Logistic Support Command and it contributed to improving the logistics systems and working efficiency. The LINC also engaged in the Daegu subway circle line project with Gyeongsan City, a research network for ICT-converged AI society with the Korea Information Society Agency, an activation of C-Fab operation with the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, a social enterprise designing, a value creative support project, and a CSR commercialization support. The reason the Daegu University LINC+ is gaining the momentum is because the university is providing the full support for the LINC+ projects. 586 staff and 17,000 students of 94 departments are actively engaging in various LINC+ projects. “DU-SP Club in the university is very popular. 159 students from 21 teams participated in an event of the club and the team that brought up the solution to the prevalent unauthorized discharge of the garbage won the top prize.” The club is receiving positively for promoting a sense of belonging and drawing active participation of students. “It is also noteworthy that the 3nd Industry-University Forum for Humanities and Society’ held by the university last January promoted the ever increasing importance of ‘social economy’ and ‘social enterprises’. As part of this effort, we have been actively participating in a number of events themed on startup, school dropouts and disabled.” Jang added “May this year, the university is organizing a cooperative forum and a competition and university students are welcome to the events.”
